It utilizes a patent-pending Absolute rotary sensor that is said to reduce instrument error to ±0.5μm. The Absolute system eliminates the need to reset the origin each time power is turned on, enabling measurement immediately upon start-up. In addition, the measurement origin can be preset to any value within the display range to reduce setup time and improve repeatability. The display can be zeroed at any position, making comparison measurement easier. Transference of body heat to the instrument is reduced by use of a removable heat shield, minimizing errors attributable to thermal expansion during hand- held measurements. It generates gentler and lower-temperature plasma than comparable production-grade units, which makes it suitable for delicate surfaces of plastics, rubber, silicone, and other materials.
