Melt Filter Now Suited for PET Sheet TEAM UP. Score a touchdown with Lusin ® and Ultra Purge™! Lusin® and Ultra Purge™ are now on the same Chem-Trend roster, providing thermoplastics processors with a stronger range of purging compounds, release agents and mold maintenance products. We're focused on helping our customers score big with increased efficiency, less scrap and reduced operational costs. Get in the game – and call Chem-Trend today! ChemTrend.com EXTRUSION EXTRUSION/CONVERTING The Laserfilter from Erema (U.S. office Ipswich, Mass.) is a continuous melt filter with screen fineness of 70 µm. Rheological optimization of the breaker plate reportedly offers a "gentler" filtration process. While the filter is said to be well established among recyclers of PCR, Erema says its features have now drawn the attention of PET sheet processors as well. As the company explains, these processors are using an ever-increasing amount of recycled PET, and the Laserfilter offers them high process stability despite occasional higher degrees of contamination. The Laserfilter processes material with more than 1% contamiation without any difficulty, says Erema. The design is said to avoid dead spaces, which results in short residence times and prevents black spots with PET. Thanks to the newly developed discharge unit, melt losses are reduced from the 1-2% said to be typical with piston filters down to 0.1%. Erema has established a new business unit, called Powerfil, which will be responsible for the company's filtration products. The machine will be on display at the Fakuma show next month in Friedrichshafen, Germany. 978-356-3771 • erema.com Versatile Charging Bar The Pinner Easy charging bar from Simco-Ion, Hatfield, Pa., is now available with both positive and negative polari- ties, reportedly making it a solution for applications that include in-mold labeling, roll-to-roll transfer, and bag making. It comes in lengths from 15 to 60 in. The device provides simplified instal- lation by combining a static charging bar and charging generator in one, with no need for high-voltage wiring. The Pinner Easy has resistively coupled, long-life tungsten emitters for increased safety and reduced EMI. The charging generator and bar assembly are fully serviceable. 800-203-3419 • simco-ion.com 72 SEPTEMBER 2017 Plastics Technology PTonline.com Keeping Up W it h Technolog y
