The first new filaments of this next-generation portfolio, designed for use with Stratasys Fortus 3D printers, are based on SABIC's Ultem polyetherimide (PEI), Cycolac ABS, and Lexan PC and reportedly offer the same composition as the company's injection molding grades. Manufacturers can use the filaments to produce a range of high-performance and durable end-use parts. The nominal diameter of all SABIC filaments is 1.79 mm ±0.05 mm and they are available in a 1510-cc spool size. • Ultem AM9085F filament is a PEI manufactured from Ultem 9085 resin. It is said to provide high-heat resis- tance and mechanical strength, and is UL 94V-0 compliant. At 1.5 and 3.0 mm, it meets FAR 25.853 and OSU 65/65 flammability requirements with low FST (flame, smoke, and toxicity) evolution. It is available in black and natural. • Cycolac AMMG94F filament is a general-purpose ABS manufactured from Cycolac MG94 resin. It is UL94 HB compliant at 3.0 mm. It is available in black, white, and natural. • Lexan AM1110F is a general-purpose PC filament manufactured from Lexan HF1110 resin. It is UL 94V-2 compliant at 3.0 mm and is available in white. 713-532-4999 • sabic.com Advanced DSC/TGA Thermal Analyzer A new combination differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) from TA Instruments, New Castle, Del., is said to deliver unprecedented performance in sensitivity, baseline stability, and temperature and atmosphere control. The Discovery SDT 650 is reportedly the first simultaneous DSC/TGA to incorporate TA's most advanced techniques like Modulated DSC, Modulated TGA, and Hi-Res TGA. With a temperature range of ambient to 1500 C, a wide variety of materials can be characterized for both research and production control. This system is also said to be the only commercial model capable of simultaneous TGA measurements on two samples, which effectively doubles laboratory productivity. 302-427-4000 • tainstruments.com @plastechmag 77 Plastics Technology N E W P R O D U C T S F O R P L A S T I C S P R O C E S S I N G
